Biography
Robert Auld was born in Maryhill (Glasgow) on 23 March 1938.
Bertie Auld suffered the ignominy of being sent off on his debut for Scotland, retaliating in stoppage time at the end of a good victory over the Netherlands. But he stayed with the squad for the second match of their continental tour and picked up a third cap later that year. All this came near the beginning of an eventful career which brought enormous success at club level. Having joined Celtic in 1955 and would go onto win the European Cup in 1967.
