Biography
James Gossland was born in Glasgow on 6 September, 1860. Date of death not known.
An inside forward who had talents off the pitch as well as on it, Gossland started out with Dennistoun, then joined Alexandra Athletic around 1879 as a player and also general secretary. He moved to Rangers in September 1882, and was the club’s top scorer in his first season. By 1885 he was appointed match secretary and his appearances in the team became increasingly rare although he played until 1889.
