Biography
James Findlay Stephen was born in Johnshaven, Kincardineshire, on 23 August 1922.
He signed for Bradford on leaving school in 1938, and turned professional the next season, just before the war broke out. Although nominally a Bradford player for ten years, he also guested for other clubs, including Halifax Town and Middlesbrough, during the war. In November 1949 he went to Portsmouth, and finished his career from 1955 at Yeovil Town.
