Biography
William Douglas Telfer was born in Larkhall on 26 October, 1925.
A robust centre half, Telfer joined St Mirren from junior team Burnbank Athletic in 1943, and had 13 prosperous years in Paisley. Even then, he was good enough and experienced enough to earn a £10,000 transfer to Rangers in November 1957, and went on to earn a Scottish League championship medal in 1959. He played for Queen of the South for two seasons from 1960, and was Albion Rovers manager from 1962-65.
