Biography
George Dewar was born in Dumbarton on 20 July, 1867. He died on 2 September, 1915. A powerful centre half, Dewar came to prominence in local football with Dumbarton Athletic and then Dumbarton FC from September 1887, winning his two caps in the two subsequent years. He moved south to Blackburn Rovers in 1889 and was a fixture in the team over the next few years, playing 174 league matches. He won the FA Cup in 1890 and 1891, and even turned out for the Football League against their Scottish counterparts.
