Biography
John Edward Blackburn was born in Edinburgh on 30 April, 1851. He died on 29 September 1927.
A right wing forward, he came through the public school system with an education at Edinburgh Academy, Glenalmond, Eton and Wimbledon School. He entered the Royal Military Academy at Woolwich in 1869 and was commissioned in the Royal Engineers in 1871. His football in the RE team earned him a cap on the Scotland team's first visit to London in 1873.
