Alexander Brown was born in Beith, Ayrshire, on 7 April, 1879.
A lively centre forward who had a useful career with a number of clubs, mainly in England. He started out with Glenbuck and Kilsyth Wanderers before turning professional with St Bernard's of Edinburgh, at that time the Scottish Cup holders, in July 1895.
