Biography
William Gillespie Boyd was born in Cambuslang on 27 November, 1905. He died on 14 December, 1967.
Boyd was a prolific goalscorer at stages of his career, but his time at the highest level was brief. After scoring over 200 goals in three seasons of junior football with Larkhall Thistle, he joined Clyde in 1930 and in his first season scored five in a Scottish Cup tie against Leith Athletic (17 Jan 1931). He was duly called up for Scotland’s end of season continental tour.
