Peter Somers was born in Avondale, Lanarkshire, on 3 June, 1878. He died on 27 November, 1914.
A creative inside forward, Peter Somers was a mainstay of the Celtic team which dominated Scottish football in the Edwardian era. He began in local football in the Motherwell area and appeared briefly for Hamilton Academical, but signed for Celtic in December 1897.
