Biography
Danny started his career as a youth at Everton. He spent time on loan at Stranraer in 2005, helping them to win promotion to the Scottish First Division. The left-back had spells at Walsall and Coventry, before signing for Celtic in 2009, making his debut in a UEFA Champions League qualifier against Dynamo Moscow. He moved to Burnley six months later, before signing a four-year deal at then-Championship side Southampton in 2011. He helped the Saints to win promotion to the Premier League at the end of season 2011/12. Eligible through his grandfather, Cheshire-born Danny won his first Scotland cap in a 3-0 friendly defeat to Wales in 2009. He waited almost three years for his next appearance, when he was re-called to the squad by Craig Levein for a 3-1 friendly win over Australia in August 2012. His first competitive cap came in a 2-1 World Cup qualifying defeat against Wales in Cardiff in October 2012.
