John Blackley

John Henderson Blackley was born in Westquarter (near Falkirk) on 12 May 1948.
Blackley was a cultured left half whose skills were a major factor in the successful Hibernian team of the early 1970s. He joined Hibs in 1965 from juvenile team Gairdoch United, and spent 12 years at Easter Road at a time when Hibs were challenging for honours. The only trophy was the Scottish League Cup in 1972, but Hibs also reached a Scottish Cup final and two League Cup finals, as well as finishing second in the league.
