Facility Development: Blairgowrie & Rattray
For a number of years coaches and supporters at the Community Club have expressed an interest in developing a 3G pitch within the town that is suitable for the training and match requirements of all users, so that optimum use can be made of the facility.
Following on from an announcement by PKC of an allocation of £500k towards a 3G facility in the town, BRCFC are developing a business plan to deliver not only a full size 3G pitch but off-pitch facilities for the community with an aim to create a legacy for years to come. Emanating from a PMR consultation in 2017 BRCFC focus has been on re-developing how they are structured with sub groups being established and in 2019 the club have worked closely with the Scottish FA and Blairgowrie & Rattray Development Trust to create a Facility, Health & Wellbeing and community engagement group to make this community project achievable .
The project will include the development of a full size floodlit 3G pitch, alongside a new modern pavilion, changing rooms, viewing area, and social space. The development of the off pitch facilities is of absolute paramount to the business plan being developed but more so to enable the club to connect with the community and have the ability to offer local groups and a range of delivery partners somewhere to have a cup of tea or engage through football, physical activity or other interests. This will provide a much-required space for community groups & football to deliver and support with inspiring change projects.
A framework is in motion for the community project and the group are engaging many key partners and organisations to explore the alternatives for the pitch and facility to be developed at Davie Park area.
There are many factors to be considered in particular the costing of the project that will serve best to developing a legacy while being realistic to make it happen over the next 2-3 years. The cost could well be in the region of £1.25 million which highlights the passion from the people involved to deliver something that is much needed within the town.
