Your Community: Turriff Community Football club

The football community of Turriff was made up of Turriff United Youth FC (SYFA), Turriff United Ladies FC (SWF), Turriff United FC (SHFL) and Turriff Thistle FC (SAFA). Historically these clubs worked separately to compete for facilities, local sponsorship and had a very ad-hoc player pathway system for players in Turriff to move from different levels of the game and gain more opportunities to play this resulted in players moving away from Turriff to get a game or dropping out of football altogether.

While the clubs were individually working through their own Quality Mark the decision was made by the club leaders to work together under the umbrella group of Turriff Community Football Club. This then allowed clubs to pull resources together for the greater good of football in Turriff.

The joined up approach has led to their being a better transition for players to move between clubs to suit their required level and keeping them in the game, joint fund raising events and working together to create a new growing girls section. With these improvements the club has been able to raise the profile within the community.

The coming together has strengthened football in Turriff and as a result the group were awarded the Gold Quality Mark Award. The community now sees the clubs working together and there is now a better understanding and belonging within the club.
