UEFA B LICENCE
COURSE OUTLINE
A UEFA B licence holder must be able to provide players and teams with a positive experience to enhance their performance through knowledge and skill acquisition. Successful coaches on the Scottish FA / UEFA B Licence must demonstrate competence in the following four areas by the conclusion of the course:
THE COACH
• Working between grassroots and elite football at youth and senior level (as a minimum)
• Developing the players and the team in a manner appropriate to their ages and abilities
• Managing all aspects of individual and team performance and working with support staff
• Developing a clear methodology for what and how to teach, to cater to the needs of all players with a variety of backgrounds
THE PLAYER AND ENVIRONMENT
• Developing learning outcomes for both individuals and the team
• Understanding the characteristics and playing positions to develop players within the team structure based on the relevant game format
• Allowing players to explore and experiment in the search for effective solutions
• Motivating players by means of suitable training sessions
TRAINING
• Planning and delivering training sessions that are challenging and meet the needs of the individual, groups and the whole team
• Managing, coaching and motivating the group of players effectively in order to achieve a skilful technical performance
• Integrating physical performance aspects into the coaching sessions
• Evaluating individual playing and social behaviours during training sessions and games
THE MATCH
• Planning effectively to improve the team’s performance
• Coaching the team in a suitable manner
• Evaluating individual and team performance during matches
• Analysing and reflecting on performance using a variety of different methods in order to provide effective feedback to individual players and the team as a whole
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The UEFA B Licence will build on the competencies gained by the coach through the completion of the UEFA C Licence or the UEFA Goalkeeping B Licence.
Entrance to the UEFA B Licence course will therefore require completion of the following:
• Children’s Wellbeing in Scottish Football (e-learning)
• Mental Health in Scottish Football (e-learning)
• UEFA C Licence or UEFA Goalkeeping B Licence
>Preference will be given to those applicants in possession of a valid UEFA C Licence or UEFA
Goalkeeping B Licence
Entrance will also be granted to long-serving professional players:
• Long-serving professional player: a professional who has played for at least seven full years in the top division of a FIFA or UEFA member association.

Notes:
• No other qualifications will be accepted as a prerequisite for this particular UEFA B Licence course. Every successful applicant will have a valid UEFA C Licence or UEFA Goalkeeping B Licence.
> Preference will be given to those applicants in possession of a valid UEFA C Licence or UEFA Goalkeeping B Licence
• All applicants must also be working at the highest level of the game possible; working at youth and/ or amateur level as an absolute minimum. To properly implement learning from the course, working with youth players at U15 as a minimum is recommended. UEFA B Licence coaching practice, assignments and assessments will be based on the 11 v 11 game.
In addition to the above, candidates whose UEFA C Licence or UEFA Goalkeeping B Licence was achieved through another National Association must include the following documents:
• Evidence of valid UEFA C Licence or UEFA Goalkeeping B Licence certification (as well as evidence of appropriate CPD accreditation, if applicable)
• Coaching & Playing / Football CV
• Letter of support (normally from the club/ team that will be worked with for the duration of the course)
• Letter outlining why you wish to undertake the UEFA B Licence with the Scottish FA
• UEFA Cross Border forms will only be required if your application has been successful. This will be requested separately
In all of the cases outlined above it is expected that prior to application, each applicant has a Scottish FA Live account and has successfully completed both the Children’s Wellbeing in Scottish Football (e-learning) and Mental Health in Scottish Football (e-learning) courses within the past three years.
BLENDED LEARNING
Phase 1 - Online Theoretical Modules - Virtual Classrooms
• 5 day’s duration when the main theoretical components of the course will be delivered.
• At least 3 course tutorials (comprising of approx. 3 hours in duration each)
Phase 2 - In Person Coaching Practice
On successful completion of Phase 1 and Phase 2, course candidates will have undertaken the following:
• At least 10 days of online learning
• 6 days of in-person coaching practice
• At least 10 – 12 days for the completion of additional tasks and assignments
After successful completion of Phase 1 and Phase 2, candidates can progress to Phase 3.
Phase 3 - Practical Assessment
• 1 meeting over 3 day’s duration to participate in and deliver assessment sessions.
• The assessment phase of the course is practical in nature, and all course candidates will be expected to participate in football-related activity for the full duration.
• Course cost is inclusive of tuition fees, lunch and Scottish FA adidas kit
• Cost does not include accommodation
