Following last years success, Perth and Kinross Youth FA (PKYFA) in partnership with the Scottish FA East Region are offering 4 v 4 programmes for boys and girls in the Perth and Kinross area. The 4 v 4 football initiatives allow teams and players to come together on a weekly basis where they can play numerous games in the small sided format.

There has been a gradual reduction of street football over many years and this natural play experience was vital in producing talented footballers in Scotland. The Developmental Fours and Soccer Sevens game is an opportunity to introduce a small-sided game that will replicate some of the experiences from the playground and street games. The children will have more touches of the ball, more 1 v 1’s, more goals scored, more decision making opportunities and more fun.

Feedback from last years coaches was that the small sided format allowed their players to play in a fun and organised environment, but more importantly they had a chance to score plenty of goals.

This year’s programme will kick off with a Fun Four Festival on Sunday 27th February, 2011 at McDiarmid Park, Perth from 3-5pm.

All children are invited to come along and show off their football skills. A specific girl’s only section will also be available for any girls looking to try out the sport.

The fun festival will be followed with a weekly games programme for all to come and enjoy with the girls section also offering some fun coaching sessions.
