Aberdeen United and Buchan Girls triumphed at the North Regional Girls Football League finals day.

The finals day marked the end of the 2009 league season, in the first year that girls football has been played from March to December across Scotland.

The U15 and U17 finals both took place at the event at Aberdeen Sports Village. The captains of the three league winning sides, Buchan Quines at U13 level, Buchan Girls at U15s and East End Girls at U17s, also picked up their trophies.

Scotland International Pauline Hamill presented medals to all on the day.

U15s Final: Buchan Girls 5, East End Thunder 2

It was a game of two halves in the first final of the day. East End looked favourites to lift the trophy after dominating the first half and going into a 2-0 lead.

But it was mostly one way traffic in the second half as Buchan dug deep to fire in five goals. Substitute Louise Brown kick-started the Buchan fight back with an impressive display on the right wing, as she set up their first goal and grabbed the second.

U17s Final: Aberdeen United 3, East End Girls 1

East End took the lead early in the first half, before Aberdeen scored two to make it 2-1 at half time in the final match of the day.

With East End looking for the equaliser, Aberdeen held on and eventually scored a third goal late in the second half to wrap up the win.
