Ayr United Football Academy hosted an Easter camp at Pro Soccer Ayr. It gave a chance for the kids to be coached by Ayr United coaches. The children were put into different age categories which were 3-4 year olds, 5-7 Year olds, 8-12 Years old and there was also a girl’s only group.  This meant the kids had a chance to play against people their own age to make it more fun and challenging for them.

AUFA community coaches Craig Richmond and Scott Agnew coached the 3-4 year olds for the first hour which ran from 11am to 12pm.  This age group is called KinderKicks and all the 3-4 year olds that took part really enjoyed themselves and they learned lots of new skills which is very important at that age.

From 12pm – 3pm we moved on to the older age groups. AUFA community coach Craig Richmond coached the 5-7 year olds. The 8-12 year olds were coached by Scott Agnew, Allan Bell and Stuart Watson.  There was a good turnout for this age group so we split them in to 2 groups which gave the players more time with the ball and more space to express and show off their skills. We also had a girl’s only section that was coached by Thomas Donovan and Dale Moore.  AUFA community coaches were very impressed by the attitude the kids had for learning football and it made it more enjoyable for them because everyone was focused on learning new football skills but most important played with a smile on their faces.

AUFA coach Thomas Donavan said “The first 2 days was all about coaching football but the last day was a fun day with all fun games.”

On the last day the kids had a great surprise visit by the Ayr United Football Club mascot Pandamonium along with the first team manager Brian Reid.  Shaun Ferrie the Football Development Officer said “It was a great surprise for the kids and coaches and left the last day of the camp with a buzz of excitement.”  The panda and Brian Reid were great and got pictures taken with all the kids.

Ayr United Football Academy Easter Camp was a great success with around 80 kids having fun and enjoying themselves taking part playing football.

All AUFA community coaches look forward to seeing players aged 3 – 12 years old coming along to the After School Classes that AUFA run throughout South Ayrshire.  For more info on this please have a look at the community section of the AUFA website.  For any other information please call 01292 263435 (option 2).
