Wednesday the 14th of April saw the annual Regional Squad Easter Games. The Easter games are in partnership between the West and South West Regions.

2010 saw the West Under 13's travel to Kilwinning Sports Club in the South West to play against the Kilmarnock and St Mirren.

This was the first competitive outing for the new Under 13 squad who have only recently came together after trials which saw over 150 boys take part.

David McArdle Regional Squad Coordinator “It is great to get the boys playing and have a look at how the players interact with each other and take on board the ideas and tactics the coaches are putting forward. Playing against high quality opposition allows the players to witness first hand the standard of players playing in senior clubs and hopefully this will give them the drive to want to improve as a player. I am delighted how the boys played today and saw a huge improvement in their technique in the very short time they have been involved in the West Regional Squad”

The West Region hosted the Under 14 games held at the Toryglen Regional Football Centre. The West Region once again came up against high quality opposition in South West Region, St Mirren and Partick Thistle.

The Under 14 Squad has recently added players to the squad; these players have been invited into the squad after narrowly missing out on the squad last year.

Brian McLaughlin Under 14 Coach “This was a great test for the players, the boys who have been with the squad for over a year are still improving and building on the work that has already taken place and the new players have been fantastic with their attitude and drive to try and improve and have already improved the squad. We will now work with the Under 14 squad to improve the players' technique and game awareness in the build up of the Regional Squad games in the summer"
