Scottish FA JD Performance School Manager Brian McLaughlin and Performance Director Malky Mackay have paid tribute to former Braidhurst High School pupil Liam Scott who has sadly passed away.

18-year-old, Liam was brought up in Motherwell and attended the Performance School for four years, playing for Hamilton before signing for New Bellshill Athletic.

He graduated from Braidhurst High School in 2018.

Brian McLaughlin said: “I was devastated to hear the tragic news about Liam Scott who was extremely well thought of by everyone who coached and played with him at Braidhurst High School.

“Liam was not only a talented footballer but also a positive, funny character who brightened up both the dressing room and the classroom.

“We are a family at the Performance Schools and Liam was an extremely well thought of member of that community.

"We are all thinking of everyone connected with Liam right now during this incredibly difficult time.”

Malky Mackay said: “Everyone at the Scottish FA would like to pass on their condolences to Liam Scott’s family.

“It was a shock to hear the tragic news of someone who was so highly regarded by teammates, classmates and coaches alike.

“We are all thinking of his family and friends during this period.”
