European Qualifier
Gibraltar v SCOTLAND
Sunday 11 October, kick-off 7.45pm
Estadio Algarve, Portugal
Scott Brown says pulling on the dark blue still means everything to the Scotland players ahead of tonight’s final European Qualifier against Gibraltar.
Thursday’s draw with Poland means the country cannot now qualify for EURO 2016. The Celtic midfielder has vowed to bounce back even stronger with Scotland, starting with a convincing win at the Estadio Algarve.
Speaking at the pre-match media conference, Scott commented: “It’s another game for Scotland and to pull on that jersey means a lot to everyone in that squad.
“There’s definitely an opportunity to play a few players that are in the squad and haven’t had much game time throughout the campaign. Hopefully they can get a chance.”
The 29-year old admits that the nature of Thursday’s result was hard to take but believes that the country is making progress under Gordon’s leadership.
He added: “It’s been hard. There have been a lot of downs in my career and it’s how you bounce back that counts. I think we can bounce back even stronger.
“Since Gordon has taken over we have got better and better. We play for each other and play attractive football. He’s been a great manager for me at club level and also in international football.”
