Around 150 children took part in a recent Tesco Bank Football Challenge Festival at Lifestyles sport centre in Cambuslang.

13 girls teams and 11 boys teams, all consisting of primary 6-8 year-old pupils from Burnside Primary, St. Anthony’s Primary and St. Charles Primary, took part.

The local Tesco Extra store supplied water and fruit for all of the children, plus four Tesco employees came along to help out with the event.

The Tesco Bank Football Challenge is a four-year community programme, run in partnership with the Scottish FA since August 2010.

The programme introduces football to Primary 2 and Primary 3 boys and girls (six to eight years old) and aims to get them engaged in a healthy and active lifestyle from a young age.
