The Scottish FA’s West region team’s support for coach development was showcased recently at St Mirren Park.
The West team strive all year to support aspirational coaches in the grassroots game with the latest courses from the Association’s world renowned coach education programme.
The Buddie’s Danny Lennon provided a session at the Coach Development Day at the home of the League Cup champions.
He focussed on ‘playing between lines’, demonstrating his trophy winning coaching techniques.
Scottish FA performance coach and former Celtic playmaker, Brian McLaughlin, demonstrated the coaching methods he uses with his Performance School pupils at Holyrood Secondary School in Glasgow.
Over 100 attendees from across the youth and adult game were there.
Danny Bisland, the Scottish FA West region club development manager who helped set up the event, said: “I would like to thank St Mirren for their hospitality, providing there youth squads as runners and, in particular, the training session from Danny Lennon was absolutely first class.
“Coach development is a vital part of what we do as a regional team. Our courses help coaches reach the level they want to be at. I hope those in attendance at this event will have taken inspiration from what Danny and Brian had to say and go back to their clubs with new ideas.”
