Senior pupils from secondary schools across the South West region have been busy brushing up on their football coaching skills during the October break, thanks to the Cashback for Communities volunteer development programme.

The volunteer development programme is now in it’s third year and has seen over eight hundred pupils from the South West region attending coaching courses, and over one hundred young people now involved in volunteering at the grassroots level.

The Scottish Government’s CashBack for Communities initiative ploughs proceeds seized from serious organised criminals back into communities across Scotland, and has created this fantastic opportunity for young people with an interest in our national game to achieve coaching qualifications whilst gaining coaching experience.

The partnership between the Scottish FA and CashBack for Communities was launched in 2008 and will provide free football coaching and playing opportunities for more than 30,000 young people over three years.

The volunteer development programme is a national initiative and is offered to all secondary schools in the South West region.  If you would like further information on the programme please contact the Player & Coach Development Officer for the South West Region on alan.sloss@scottishfa.co.uk.
