Renowned coaches from football recently imparted their knowledge at the Scottish FA South East region annual coaching conference in Livingston to an audience of over 150 coaches from Scotland.
Ritchie Wilson, Scottish FA community development manager, shared his knowledge on the newly created 2020 Development Centres which he manages.
The centres provide players in primary five, six and seven the opportunity to begin their journey through the association’s performance pathway.
Also in attendance was Scott Sellars - Academy Manager at Manchester City – and Mike Wadsworth who is a former manager of such clubs as Oldham Athletic and Huddersfield Town.
South East regional manager David Drummond said: “Conferences such as these provide an ideal opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches we have working up and down the country.
“Not only do they showcase their knowledge of the game, they show us how they put it into practice both on and off the pitch.
“All three sessions were excellent but for me what has been most pleasing is to hear how enthused coaches are with what we at the Scottish FA are trying to do with our Coach Education programme and our 2020 vision to support the development of more talented players.
“If club coaches use some of the drills and practices shown today, it won't be long until we start to see a large number of very talented footballers coming through the clubs and into our national teams.”
