Over 350 Coaches from the West Region and all over Scotland attended the Scottish FA West Region Coach Development Day on Sunday 3rd July at Lesser Hampden Stadium.

The development day was aimed at coaches working at all levels of football from those in grassroots clubs, pro youth football through to the female and adult game and included a variety of practical sessions from four top coaches.

The tutors demonstrated a variety of practices that illustrated the link between 4-a-side football and the 11-a-side game, and the potential effect that each coach can have on a player during every stage of their development.

The 4 experienced guest tutors included:

Jim Duffy - Clyde FC - Session was aimed at coaches working with Under 19 and Adult Players

Tony Cook - Nottingham Forrest FC - Session was aimed at Grassroots and Pro Youth Coaches aged 14+

Michael Beale - Chelsea FC - Session was aimed at Grassroots and Pro Youth Coaches 12+

Geoff Noonan - Fulham FC - Session was aimed at Grassroots and Pro Youth Coaches aged 8+

Tony Cook , Nottingham Forrest FC Academy Coach, said: “I just want to thank the West Region for inviting and allowing me to coach at the development day. I hope the participants enjoyed it as much as I did and the welcome I got from everyone that attended was superb."

Paul McNeill, West Regional Manager, said: “I just want to thank Queens Park FC for arranging the fantastic facility and bringing runners for the event. I also would like to thank St Peters BC for bringing such enthusiastic players on the day. Finally I really appreciate the effort that so many coaches from all levels of the game made the effort to attend this event. The tutors delivery was excellent and I hope that all attendees went away with ideas on sessions that they can implement at their club.”
