Cumnock Juniors Youth FC organized a goalkeeping course on Sunday 17th July 2011. Thirteen of the Clubs coaches were joined by two coaches from Rosebank and one from Caledonian as they were put through their paces by Colin Stewart.
The experienced goalkeeper who has played for Ipswich Town, Kilmarnock, Ross County, Partick Thistle, Grindivik(Iceland), Livingston and presently Greenock Morton is also an Scottish FA coach and runs his own goalkeeping Academy in Kilwinning.
The six hour goalkeeping course worked on technical aspects such as handling, shape, positioning and footwork, and also on physical aspects such as strength, speed, stamina and flexibility. They also worked on psychological aspects like confidence, concentration, motivation and determination. The coaches worked hard and completed the course to earn their Scottish FA Level 1 Goalkeeping Certificate. Cumnock Coach Co-ordinator Derek King said "All the coaches thoroughly enjoyed the content and Colin Stewart's own input. Cumnock Juniors Youth highly recommend the Goalkeeping Course as one of the top courses available on the Coach Education Calendar"
