UEFA Under-17 Championship Finals
Denmark 3-1 Scotland
Ramat Gan Stadium, Ramat Gan
Friday, 20 May (12.30pm, UK)

Denmark: Simmelhack (33), Mackenzie (og, 47), Jensen (71); Scotland: Wilson (35).

Denmark deservedly picked up all three points in this second Group D encounter.

Rory Wilson raised Scottish hopes after cancelling out Alexander Simmelhack's opener, but the Danes upped the ante and capitalised on an unfortunate Magnus Mackenzie own goal.

Markus Jensen made sure of the victory with a third.

Team News

Brian McLaughlin made three changes to his starting line-up from the opening Group D game against Portugal,

Dylan Lobban, Lennon Miller and Rory MacLeod were introduced, while Bailey Rice, Lewis O'Donnell and Louis Jackson sat it out.

Miller had an unusual build-up to the game, having sat his History exam earlier in the day at the team hotel.

As It Happened

Both teams had to contend with sweltering conditions in the Ramat Gan Stadium, with the officials quick to assure the respective benches that they'd be given water breaks throughout the match.

Denmark had the first sight at goal on seven minutes, when Valdemar Byskov cut in and looked odds-on to open the scoring, until Scotland captain Charlie McArthur produced a brilliant last-gasp block.

Scotland tried their luck three minutes later, with Wilson sharp to intercept a loose pass. Spotting the 'keeper off his line, he tried an audacious effort from distance but dragged his shot wide.

Scots keeper Jacob Pazikas was called into action, with a fine reaction stop from Julius Beck but he was powerless to prevent the Danes taking the lead on 33 minutes.

Pazikas saved from Elias Hansborg-Sorensen but the ball fell kindly for Simmelhack to nod home.

Rather than let their heads drop, Scotland came roaring back and levelled two minutes later.

Dylan Reid's searching ball to the far post led to a short headed pass-back from Mads Nybo, which Wilson capitalised on. Rounding the keeper, he kept his cool in the heat to equalise.

Josh Dede replaced Craig Moore at the break, and Scotland found themselves a goal down within a minute of the restart.

Mackenzie - scorer of a fine consolation goal against Portugal - could do little but turn a driven cross into his own net at the far post.

Scotland's efforts weren't aided by an injury to Lennon Miller, who was replaced on 65 minutes by Bailey Rice.

Denmark notched a third after 71 minutes, when Hojlund's inch-perfect through-ball found Jensen, who made no mistake with a clinical finish.

Scotland conclude their Group D fixtures with a head-to-head with Sweden on Monday at the Lod Municipal Stadium.

It's a 6pm kick-off (UK time) and you can watch the game live on the BBC Sport website, iPlayer and their Red Button channel.
