Dick Taylor was involved in boys/youths football for over 40 years and while living in Gargunnock he was seen running the local school team and boys brigade from 1953 until 1977. He then formed Carse Thistle Boys Club and continued to ensure that Carse developed great teams and players.
Many of the boys from his teams have gone on to play football at a professional level including David Flynn, Alex Bone, David Cameron, Callum Davidson, Gary Higgins, Duncan Ferguson and David Goodwillie.
In 2007 Dick was awarded by Kenny Dalglish the “Best Volunteer in Youth Football” at a Hampden Park awards dinner of which he was extremely proud of receiving but like the man he was played down his involvement and spoke about the many others that had played their part.
Dick was so enthusiastic and committed to giving young footballers the opportunity to get a game of football and could still be found on the touchlines of pitches most weekends.
The funeral arrangements are Tuesday 6th December, 11:30am at Falkirk Crematorium.
