Dundee v Kilmarnock
Scottish FA Youth Cup Final
Wednesday, 30 April 2025
Hampden Park, Glasgow

There is a fresh look to this season's Scottish FA Youth Cup Final, with Dundee seeking a first ever win in their first Final appearance this century, and Kilmarnock back in the Final since their 2004 victory.

The match takes place on Wednesday, 30 April at Hampden Park, with a 7:20pm kick off, live on BBC Scotland.

Previous Meetings

The two sides have yet to meet at Under-18 level this season, although Dundee have played Kilmarnock twice in the SPFL Reserve League this campaign.

Dundee edged out the first meeting 1-0 back in October, with the second meeting ending in a 1-1 draw in February.

Cup Form

Kilmarnock began with an emphatic 11–0 victory over Deveronvale in the Third Round, setting the tone for their cup run.

In the Fourth round, they faced Falkirk and delivered a dominant performance, securing a 5–1 win at the Falkirk Stadium.

The Quarter-Finals saw Kilmarnock host Montrose at Rugby Park, where they maintained their impressive form with a 3–0 triumph. Aaron Davis, Grant Marchant and Shay McKeown bagging the goals to seal a last four place.

Livingston were up next in the Semi-Finals but they would be no match for Burke’s side who turned in a dominant display. Four first half goals from Duncan Barlow, Ben Brannan, Archie Traynor and Mitchell Spence got Killie on their way and late strikes from Cole Burke and Jack Allan wrapped up a comfortable 6-0 win.

Dundee’s journey began with a 5–3 win over Fraserburgh in the third round and a 2–0 victory over Ayr United followed in Round Four.

Facing Banks O’ Dee in the Quarter-Finals, Dundee secured another 2-0 win with second half goals from Louis Gray and Luca Perrie.

That result would be a theme as they also overcame St Mirren by the same scoreline in the Semi-Final.

That win proved a real test of character, with the hosts drawing a large crowd of 1400 but a double from Michael Hunter sealed the Dark Blues’ spot in the final.

Pre-Match Thoughts

Dundee's Josh Mitchell: "You don’t get many opportunities to play at Hampden so it’s a dream. Lots of my family will be there. My mum, dad, my sister, my granddad will all be there so I’m sure it’ll be a proud well for them. It will be good to play on TV. It’ll be a different experience and not something I’ve done before.

"We’re really close and on the pitch we’re good at adapting to different ways of playing. You saw that in the Semi-Final against St Mirren. We played football when it was on, we defended when we had to and we’re a really tight group.

"It’s a massive occasion for the whole club and I just want to enjoy it. We’ll hopefully have a lot of supporters and winning the cup would make it even more special."

Kilmarnock's Reuben Cooper: "It’s what you dream of as a kid – playing at Hampden. I know it’s only Under-18s, but no matter what the level, it’ll be a special feeling and something that we’ve been looking forward to. It was a goal at the start of the season, to get there, and hopefully we can make it a memorable one.

"We went for a tour of Hampden the other week which was good, to see what it’s like. It was good to see the changing rooms, and where we’ll be walking out, just so it’s not so new on the day.

"There’s a few of the lads who were involved and we’ve been hurting and disappointed because you never want to lose a cup final. However, you try to look at it in a positive way and you don’t want that feeling again. Hopefully we can right the wrongs and get the job done tonight."
