East & Midlothian Schools Under 15 side made their way through to the semi final of the National Trophy  with a comfortable victory over North Of Scotland at Poltonhall on Friday.

The visitors, whose side was made up of boys from as far afield as Stornoway and Wick,  started well with their midfield  which included two provisional Aberdeen signings  looking  strong.  However, the home side soon took command and dominated the game from about the ten minute mark.  The home side suffered a blow on 20 minutes losing Ewan Ralton with an ankle injury and several chances went a-begging in the opening period before the deadlock was broken on 30 minutes  when a long throw from Martin Innes (St David’s) was  flicked  into the net by Dan Moffat (Musselburgh).

The East & Mid side totally dominated the second period but a combination of poor finishing and good goalkeeping  kept the game tight.  East & Mid got the cushion they deserved after  16 minutes with a fine individual goal from North Berwick’s  Coll Donaldson.  Five minutes later it was 3-0, Myles Doig (Ross High) heading home a Jordan Burrows corner.  With five minutes left slackness in the home defence allowed the visitors to score but immediately from the kick off Moffat netted his second of the game from close range after a Donaldson cross.

East & Mid now travel to East Ayrshire for the semi-final later this month.

East & Mid: D Horne (Preston Lodge), T Cordery & R Maciver  (Newbattle), K Tufail, M Innes, R Docherty & D O’Kane (St David’s), J Moffat, D Moffat, E Ralton, J Burrows (Musselburgh), M Fearman (Lasswade), M Doig, M Strachan (Ross High), C Donaldson (North Berwick).
