110 girls from eleven teams playing under 11 football in the east region recently took part in a festival at the indoor centre, Soccerworld, in Dundee.
The teams that took up the opportunity were Arbroath CSC 'A', Arbroath CSC 'B', Celtic Tayside, Dundee West, Dundee United SC, Forfar Farmington Wildcats, Forfar Farmington Blues, Forfar Farmington Blue United, Jeanfield Swifts, Lomond Colts and Monifeth Ladies.
Sam Milne, Scottish FA East region Girls and Women's Football Development Officer, was delighted with the number of teams that attended and was encouraged by the number of girls playing football for their local teams.
"I feel the festival format is a great tool for teams. It gives the girls a chance to enjoy their football, playing against teams from all over the region, and creates a great avenue to improve their skill and technique."
The festival is part of the under 11 fixtures run by the Scottish FA east region and Scottish Womens Football.
Throughout the new season, with weekly fixtures from March to November, the four areas of Tayside and Fife all host one festival for all of the east region teams to take part in.
