On Sunday 19th June, McDonald’s Football Ambassadors John Robertson and Suzanne Grant joined the Scottish FA Community Football Day in Edinburgh for a fun filled day to celebrate the work of local Scottish FA Quality Mark Clubs.
The event, hosted at Edinburgh South FC, saw hundreds of young footballers’ flock to the event to enjoy the football on show, take part in games and provide attending clubs with the opportunity to recruit new players and volunteers.
Throughout the day the ex-Scotland internationalists met with clubs and players and posed for photographs at the event, which featured an adult’s challenge game and a full tournament for youth players.
McDonald’s local Operations Consultant, Martin Lomax was in attendance at the day and said: “The Scottish FA Community Football days are a wonderful opportunity for local clubs to get involved in a really fun day that everyone can enjoy. Grassroots football is so important to this local community and it was fantastic to see so many players take part.”
The Community Football Day was part of McDonald’s community partnership with The Scottish FA. As the longest standing partner of the Scottish FA, the McDonald’s programme focuses on supporting accredited grassroots clubs and their volunteers to raise the standards of grassroots football across the UK and improving the grassroots experience for young aspiring footballers.
