UEFA Under-17 Championship Elite Round
Germany 4-0 Scotland
The Falkirk Stadium
Saturday, 26 March, 12pm
Scotland's Under-17s fell 4-0 to impressive top seeds Germany in their second game of the Elite Round.
Head Coach Brian McLaughlin made one change from the side that drew the opening game against Czech Republic on Wednesday, with Greig Allen making way for Dylan Lobban.
After an even opening 10 minutes Scotland had their best chance of the half. Ben Doak, as he was against the Czech Republic, was at the heart of it.
Doak carried the ball from the left wing before playing it inside. The ball was worked to striker Rory Wilson, just inside the box, who forced an excellent save from the German keeper Seimen, down to his right.
As the half progressed, Germany started to assert their dominance, working the ball around the Scotland half looking to fashion openings. A combination of some excellent blocks inside the box and saves from Pazikas in the Scotland goal kept the visitors at bay.
Germany broke the deadlock on 30 minutes, taking advantage of a quick counter after a Scotland attacking free-kick was cleared. A sliced Scotland clearance fell to German number 10 Tom Bischof outside the box. He set himself and buried the ball in the bottom-right corner.
Germany quickly took control of the game at the start of the second half. The ball was worked to the left, where Germany’s scorer Bischof turned provider, sending a teasing cross to the back post which was guided into the far corner from the head of Pejcinovic.
Ten minutes later it was three and again Bischof was at the centre of it. He intercepted a pass in midfield, drove at the defence before powerfully firing home beyond Pazikas.
The half continued with Germany in the ascendancy, with Pazikas making several excellent saves to keep the score at 0-3. The incessant German pressure would lead to a fourth, a cross from the left by substitute Lars Raebiger was nodded home at the back post by fellow substitute Arijon Ibrahimovic.
