Falkirk Community Trust hosted their first disability football festival of the year on Thursday 12 March 2015 at Grangemouth Sports Complex. 21 primary school kids attended from nearby local schools to take part in the sessions delivered by Football Development officer Aidan Forbes with support from Forth Valley Disability Sports Graham Harvey & Mitch Graham.
The session started with a fun group warm up allowing coaches time to assess movement and ability of those attending before breaking the groups down and taking part in the mini micro sessions that included passing, dribbling and finishing. Half way through the kids were sent for a well-earned juice break and suitable recovery time allowing them the opportunity to re-charge their batteries before a final 40 minutes of fun games and a certificate presentation to all those who took part in the event.
Feedback on the day was extremely useful with great interaction and support from teachers who attended to support the pupils.
Graham Harvey from FVDS said "the event was a great success with all players enjoying the football skills session; many thanks must go to Aidan Forbes from the Falkirk Community Trust for organising the event"
Football Development Officer Aidan Forbes said “this was a fantastic morning with the kids extremely engaged in the event and getting the opportunity to take part in simple fun sessions. A massive thanks to those schools that attended and took part and a massive well done to all the kids for their efforts. We hope to deliver more of these events in the future and help improve the club to school link allowing those interested the opportunity to take part in more regular activity”
