On Sunday 5th June the U15 Central/South West and U17 Central/East/South East League Cup Finals took place at Recreation Park in Alloa.
First up was the U15s final, an all Central clash between Falkirk FC and Wishaw Jrs in what proved to be a very closely fought contest. An unfortunate own goal put Falkirk in front with Wishaw drawing level before the break. Then a super strike by Chelsea MacKay put Falkirk back in front just before the end with the game finishing 2-1 to Falkirk.
Then came the U17 cup final between Hutchison Vale and Muireston, both of the South East Region. The teams went in level at 2-2 at half time and then high drama followed in the second half as Hutchison Vale went in front through a penalty that had to be taken twice and a second goal that was scrambled over the line. Muireston then pulled a goal back with 3 minutes to go but Hutchison Vale were able to survive a late onslaught by Muireston to hold out for a memorable win.
It was a great display for the spectators of both games as the teams both really set out to win. A big thank you must go to the volunteers on the day who helped with everything from photos to tickets to announcing and also to Tullibody FC's U11 Girls who were the ball girls for the day.
