International friendly
Finland v Scotland
Tuesday, 18 July 2023 (kick-off 7pm local/5pm UK)
Tampere Stadium, Finland

Scotland Women’s National Team go to Finland in the final match ahead of UEFA Women’s Nations League in the autumn. The latest game in preparation for the tournament later this year saw Scotland dispatch of Northern Ireland in tough conditions, securing a 3-0 win in spite of swirling wind and driving rain in Dundee last Friday.

It was a memorable night in the City of Discovery, with debuts for Amy Rodgers and Kirsty Maclean. There was also a first Scotland goal for Sam Kerr as well as a 25th cap for forward Martha Thomas. If Erin Cuthbert and Caroline Weir play against Finland, both stand to secure their 60th and 100th caps respectively in Tampere.

Pedro Martinez Losa’s side are undefeated in five matches with three back-to-back clean sheets.

Finland go into Tuesday’s game on a seven game unbeaten run, running out 2-1 winners over Iceland last week. Finland will also compete in the UEFA Women’s Nations League, placed in League B and drawn against Croatia, Slovakia and Romania.

Pre-match thoughts:

Speaking after the Northern Ireland victory, Erin Cuthbert: "We are really building on the momentum from the last camp. We're really building, but it means nothing if we don't go and beat Finland now.

"That's what we'll be hoping to do in preparation for the Nations League. We've got to look forward - there are important games coming up, but we're up for the challenge and we'll give it everything we've got.

"It's off-season - we've been working hard to push each other for a performance like that."

Head coach, Pedro Martinez Losa on Finland: "I think they are a very competitive team with a good run of victories like us. We’re playing away from home and it’s going to present a lot of difficulties.

"We’re going to have to be really compact, we’re going to have to use the time and space the opponent will give us to run in behind, but also we need moments of control.

"Finland have players in the middle of their season, we’ll see the challenge that they bring, but that’s why we are here, we want to test ourselves."

Team news:

Full squad fit and available for selection with the exception of captain Rachel Corsie who withdrew due to injury.
