Tuesday 16th June saw France crowned World Champions at Monifieth High School with a thrilling victory over North Korea.
As part of the school's Curriculum for Excellence programme, each pupil in first year was allocated a country competing at this years World Cup Finals in South Africa.
In the lead up to the start of the tournament, the pupils learned the history, geography, language and culture of their country. The culmination of the project was the school's very own World Cup competition run in line with the Bank Of Scotland Soccer One programme.
PE teacher Paul Cunningham organised the event, which saw the entire school come out to watch the action and support their class mates.
The final itself was an entertaining end-to-end match with the French side narrowly taking the spoils.
The event was a tremendous example of how football can be utilised as a tool in any school's Curriculum for Excellence programme.
