Positive Coaching Scotland (PCS) is a cultural change programme designed to create a positive environment for young people in sport. It was conceived to help address the number of young people dropping out of sport due to an over emphasis of the ‘win at all cost’ mentality prevalent in professional sports and increasing spilling over into youth sports.
The mission of PCS is ‘To recognise that through sport young people learn valuable life lessons. It challenges the win at all costs mentality and focuses on effort, learning from mistakes, respect, responsibility and success.’
To this aim the Uist and Barra in-service will involve a power point presentation followed by a practical theme - primary school practices (4v4s & 7v7s). The later will cover scenarios which highlight areas of positive and negative aspects of the game - the intention would be that coaches participate in the basic practical session.
Therefore, we would like to invite coaches, parents, administrators, and teachers, anyone involved in football to attend. This would allow everyone the opportunity to be influential in the way football could be played in the Uist’s & Barra.
We look forward to seeing you at the in-service and looking forward to the festival in the afternoon.
If you can attend, please contact Christine Macquarrie on firstname.lastname@example.org
