Following last years success the Scottish FA South West Region will again be offering a 4 v 4 event programme within Ayrshire for players born 2004 and 2005.  The 4 v 4 football initiative allows the teams to come together on a fortnightly basis where they can play numerous games in the small sided format.

There has been a gradual reduction of street football over many years and this natural play experience was vital in producing talented footballers in Scotland. The Developmental Fours and Soccer Sevens game is an opportunity to introduce a small-sided game that will replicate some of the experiences from the playground and street games. The children will have more touches of the ball, more 1 v 1’s, more goals scored, more decision making opportunities and more fun.  The 4 v 4s is the first step on the Scottish FA’s National Player Pathway.

The main feedback from last years coaches was that the small sided format allowed their players to play in a fun and organised environment, but more importantly they had a chance to score plenty of goals.

All of Ayrshire’s Scottish FA Quality Mark clubs have received an invite. All of these teams recognise that the 4 v 4 format is a great way of building a good level of skill and a real love for playing the game that will last the players a lifetime.

The 4 v 4 games are played on the excellent third generation synthetic pitch at Greenwood and the teams use the custom built 4 v 4 goals that were provided by the South West Region, through a partnership with the Scottish Government's Cashback for Communities programme.

The Programme Starts Sunday March 6th Session 1 10am – 11.30am and Session 2 11.30am – 1pm.
