Local Edinburgh football club, Boroughmuir Thistle FC, were joined by Scottish football legend Gary McAllister at their weekly training session on Wednesday March 7th after winning a competition courtesy of McDonald’s.

Gary spent the evening training session at the club led by Boroughmuir Thistle FC coaches watching and passing on his tips and tricks of the trade from his professional career to both the players and managers at the club.

The Boroughmuir teams and coaches then held a quick coaching de-brief with Gary on the evening session before having his photo taken with each of the teams and chatting to people about his career.

Gavin Michie, chairman of Boroughmuir Thistle FC, said: “Last night was a fantastic experience for all involved at the club.

"It is not very often that you are lucky enough to receive a coaching masterclass from one of Scotland’s greatest footballers.

"Gary was fantastic tonight and spent so much time with the kids helping them to perfect their skills. I would like to thank McDonald’s and the Scottish FA for making this visit possible.”

Scotland legend Gary McAllister said: “Over the years I have been fortunate enough to visit a number of grassroots clubs and see lots of youth football in action.

"What never ceases to amaze me is the dedication of the coaches, like the guys at Boroughmuir Thistle, who spend their evenings and weekends dedicated to providing grassroots football to their community.

"McDonald’s do a fantastic job supporting grassroots football across Scotland and it was great to be a part of their football programme last night.”
