Scot Gemmill has named his squad for Scotland’s upcoming 2019-21 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers.

Fixtures against Croatia and Greece lay in wait for the youngsters, with Scotland sandwiched between the two nations in qualification group 4.

Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour, who has starred for Frank Lampard’s side in recent weeks, makes up part of the 21-man squad.

Experienced midfield partner Allan Campbell misses out through injury, as does Celtic’s Mikey Johnston.

There are some new faces on the Under-21 scene, with Celtic’s Stephen Welsh and Ranger’s Lewis Mayo adding to Scot Gemmill’s defensive options. The latter is currently operating on-loan for Championship side Partick Thistle.

Hearts duo Andrew Irving and Lewis Moore boost the manager’s midfield options, with Louis Appere and Jamie Gullan also making the Under-21s squad for the first time.

First up, Gemmill’s side face Croatia at Tynecastle Park, who sit fourth in the group on six points.

The young team will be encouraged by their memorable victory back in September, when a Connor McLennan double secured a 2-1 comeback victory in Šibenik.

Four days later, Scotland take on Greece away from home, with two points separating the hosts in second from the Scots in third. A late goal from Dimitris Nikolaou was the difference between the sides in their meeting in Edinburgh in November.
