This year has seen the start of Edinburgh’s Advanced Player Development Centre for Girls.

Heading into a week’s break over the October holiday has given the team of coaching staff a chance to reflect on what has been a hugely successful start to the programme. So far there are over 60 players attending each session covering U13s, U15s, U17s and goalkeepers.

Club coaches are invited to send along players they feel are performing well and showing good attitude. Edinburgh’s Scottish FA Community coaches are also tasked with finding new talent within our community programmes in Edinburgh such as McDonalds, Bank of Scotland Soccer One and Midnight Leagues, and Street Football.

The Centre is set up to assist with developing thepotential of young female footballers in Edinburgh, allowing the players to increase the amount of quality football sessions they participate in every week. In each session players have the opportunity to work on technical, tactical and physical components of the game with our team of coaching staff, which includes two former youth internationals.

A major highlight of the programme has been the inclusion of 14 of the under 15 players in this years Regional Squad.

After the holiday it’s hoped the excellent start to the programme will continue, kicking off with an education night on Nutrition and Injury Prevention for the players.

The Centre runs on Monday Nights at Meggetland Sports Complex from 6pm – 7.30pm. If you would like more information please contact Chris Roberts at chrisroberts@sportinedinburgh.com
