On Tuesday 10th May the South West Region secured the services of Julie Fleeting and Joanne Love, both current Scotland International players to come along to the girl’s technique squad training.

The technique squad is for under-11 and under-13 players within the region who show particular promise for the future.

The girls trained as normal from 5.30pm to 6.30pm before heading into the Lecture Theatre along with their parents for a presentation on diet and nutrition from sport science expert and technique squad coach, Michelle Collins.  Michelle gave the girls advice on all the right things they should be eating so they could “Be the best they can” at a match or training.  The girls have since received a food diary to complete which we’re sure will show some interesting results.

After Michelle had completed the presentation the girls were then treated to a question and answer session with Julie and Joanne.  With well over 200 Scotland caps between them, the girls are more than qualified to help the girls with any advice they need.  Questions ranged from what their favourite pre-match meal is, to how they recover from a big injury?  After half an hour of questions from the group the two internationalists were happy to sign autographs and have their picture taken with the girls.

Who knows, some of our girls may be ready to follow in their footsteps and star for Scotland in years to come.
