The 9th Glasgow City Cup takes place on the weekend 6th – 8th August 2010, full details on the competition can be found by visiting the website at www.glasgowcitycup.org.uk

This year for the first time there will also be a soccer 7’s and Fun 4’s element the weekend before the main competition. This will be on Saturday 31st July and Sunday 1st August.

Tournament Director Jim Smith MBE, said “that both competitions have seen a dramatic surge in applications over the past few weeks with over 100 Teams now registered.

The Glasgow City Cup is the largest Youth Football Tournament in Scotland and this was confirmed by MSP Margaret Curran in a motion to the Scottish Parliament earlier this year.”

Jim said  “the standard of the competition being so high, many teams are using the Tournament for their pre season. Teams are guaranteed a minimum of 5 games for the entry fee at 11 a side.”

Plans are well under way for 2011 and an announcement will be made at the end of this year’s Tournament confirming a minimum of 25 overseas teams in 2011
