Glasgow Girls FC have been crowned champions of the Northumberland Girls League Football Tournament.
Competing in the tournament for the second season, Glasgow Girls defeated hosts Cramlington on penalties in the final to take the U17s title.
The final ended 1-1, and with no breakthrough after 10 minutes of extra time, it went down to penalties.
Cramlington’s first penalty was saved by Joanne Casey – voted goalkeeper of the tournament by players and referees. Clair Sheldon and Emma Strathdee both scored for Glasgow, and when Cramlington missed two penalties in a row, Amy McFadden scored to win it for Glasgow.
The tournament involved teams from across Northumberland and Tyneside, plus Scottish teams Jeanfield Swifts (Perth) and Glasgow Girls.
Glasgow Girls FC would like to thank the committee of the Northumberland Girls Football League for their help and Cramlington Juniors FC for their hospitality.
