Disability Sport Fife (DSF) is proud to be working with Glenrothes Strollers FC to develop football for players with a learning disability.

Glenrothes Strollers are a recognised Quality Mark community club and currently offer ‘Nursery Football’ for the under 5s, ‘Fun Fours Football’ for the 5s to 8 year olds, and 7-a-side football for young people aged 8 to 11.  There is also 11-a-side football team up to 19 years of age as well as an established adult amateur team. A fast growing Strollers girls section, with three teams of different age groups, confirms the club’s very positive stance on equity.

The Scottish FA Disability Football Officer, David McArdle, brought together DSF President, Richard Brickley and Glenrothes Strollers Chairman, John Buchanan during the recent Series 1 of the DSF 7-a-side Football League for players with a learning disability.  It was quickly very clear the two organisations shared the same values and passion for football development. The creation of inclusive football opportunities as visualised by Glenrothes Strollers FC, with players with a disability being offered discrete and inclusive football, is consistent with the DSF model of inclusive sport.

DSF was delighted to hear that the club plans to offer Saturday morning monthly taster coaching sessions in February, March and April and this new initiative will be advertised throughout the DSF network.

Glenrothes Strollers FC free coaching football sessions will be held on Saturday 25 February, Saturday 24 March and Saturday 28 April between 10.00 and 12.00 hrs at Over Stenton Park, Viewfield Road, Glenrothes.
