Aberdeen Sports Village played host to the Grampian Support for Learners Football Festival Sponsored by Inverurie Loco's Football Club on Tuesday 20th March.

Twelve teams from across Grampian took part on the day across two tournament categories, one for special schools and one for support for learner’s bases within mainstream schools.

After an action packed day of football and excellent sportsmanship we had our tournament winners.

Bucksburn Academy came top in the special schools tournament after extra time and penalties, fighting off tough opposition from the Anna Ritchie School. Harlaw Academy "B" team came top of the support for learner’s tournament by one point.

The day was supported HND sports coaching students from Morgan College who officiated throughout the day, helping the event to run smoothly.

Twenty two players across both tournament were identified as having football talent and will be invited to trial for the Grampian Football Squad.

Tournament co-ordinator Claire Bonner said:"It was excellent to see so many players attend the day which allowed for good participation numbers and helped identify talented players with potential at Regional Squad level. We look forward to building on this festival in the coming months to provide more football opportunities for the youngsters."
