Spartans are pleased to announce their latest pre-season signing.

Grant Scott joins the side as Head Coach following his move across the Capital from Hearts Ladies.

The 41 year old is looking forward to working once again with Manager Debbi McCulloch after being part of the same UEFA B Licence group last year.

Scott laughed “I’m hoping Debbi has asked me on board because she saw good things. Seriously though, it’s a fantastic opportunity to be offered the chance to coach at Spartans and it was an easy decision to make to join such an aspirational club.”

Scott, who undertook a coaching role with Hibs Ladies before his 3 year stint at Hearts, has taken no time in getting used to the change in intensity at Spartans.

“Working at Hearts was good for me and my transition from youth to seniors as Coach was fast and hopefully reward for what I was doing, however moving to Spartans is a step up and a new challenge – one I’m enjoying already.

“Having taken a few of my B Licence practical sessions with the team and watched them on a couple of occasions last season,  I know what they are capable of – and that’s challenging for honours every season.”

Manager Debbi McCulloch added, “We are delighted to welcome Grant to the Spartans Family. Over the past 12 months I have been fortunate to work closely with Grant whilst completing our UEFA B Licence. Throughout this process I witnessed Grant develop as a coach and when the vacancy of Head Coach became available he was our first choice.

“Grant is an ambitious and thorough coach who will rise to the challenge of coaching at the top level of the women’s game in Scotland. I have no doubt he will develop the players here at Spartans and I very much look forward to what he can bring to the team.”

Grant replaces Mike Ross who steps down to continue with his role as Head Coach at Edinburgh University.  The Club would like to thank Mike for his efforts over the past three years and wish him the best of luck with the season ahead and beyond.
