The Scottish FA have been issued with some information about fan marches in Boston from City of Boston Government, and we can now share the following guidance with supporters.
Fan marches have been synonymous with Scotland supporters for decades, with memorable marches taking place at the last European Championships in Germany.
Any supporters looking to arrange fan marches in the summer should note the below information, while the full information pack can be read here.
We will share guidance around our match in Miami in due course.
Fan Walk permit application process
The Fan Walk permit application process is only intended for specific activities — such as a group of football fans walking in support of their team — which meet all of the following criteria:
• Duration is under 90 minutes
• Participation exceeds 150 individuals
• May be accompanied by music and instruments
• May include 1 or 2 support vehicles (meeting the Commercial Vehicle Parade Inspection Criteria)
• Must NOT include floats, open fires, pyrotechnics, smoke, marine flares, or giveaways
• Must remain non-political with no political affiliation, funding, or banners
Groups with fewer than 150 participants may walk without a permit as long as they remain on the pavement and follow the Code of Conduct (detailed in Section 4 of the document).
If a group is unsure of expected participant numbers, they are still required to coordinate with the City of Boston for advice on appropriate next steps.
For Fan Walk inquiries within the City of Boston, supporters should contact: fanwalkinfo@boston.gov
Application process
Groups looking to obtain a Fan Walk permit should start by filling in this survey.
We would recommend that groups select one representative to fill this out.
Applications for group stage matches need to be submitted no later than 30 days prior to the fan walk date, with marches ahead of knock-out matches to be submitted as early as possible, and no
later than 5 days prior to the match.
Exact submission deadlines are detailed in the FIFA guidance document.
