Hampden Park will play host to Scotland’s first match of 2018, with World Cup-bound Costa Rica providing the opposition in an International Challenge Match on Friday, 23 March.

The news follows on from the launch of Scotland Supporter Club 2018-19 membership sales yesterday, which saw more than 2,000 loyal Scotland supporters purchase memberships – more than double opening day sales for 2016-17 – including more than 200 new members.

Scotland Supporters Club members will benefit from an exclusive £5 discount on ticket prices, with tickets priced at only £10 for adults in the East and West stands and £15 in the North and South Stands.

Public sale tickets will begin at only £15 for adults in the East and West Stands, or £20 in the North and South Stands.

Children under 16 can attend the match for only £5 in all areas of the stadium.

Fresh from their qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Costa Rica will provide stern opposition for Scotland. They boast talent such as Real Madrid’s Keylor Navas, while Celtic’s Cristian Gamboa will be familiar to many of the Scotland players.

The two sides have met only once before, when Costa Rica secured a shock 1-0 victory in the 1990 World Cup in Italy.

The match, which will kick off at 7.45pm, will act as the first warm-up match for Scotland as they prepare for the inaugural UEFA Nations League competition.

Scotland have been drawn against Albania and Israel in Nations League group C1, with the winner of the group guaranteed a play-off spot for Euro 2020 qualification.

Information as to when tickets will be available for purchase will be released in due course.
